LAUREL -- To a committee of the Southeastern Wisconsin Regional Planning
Commission, which has finally made a recommendation on a proposal to extend
Metra rail service from Kenosha to Milwaukee. The committee endorsed the idea
last week, but decided to host a series of public hearings before making a final
recommendation to SEWPRC. Following years of fits and starts on this issue,
SEWRPC Executive Director Phil Evenson was understandably relieved to declare,
``The train is back on the track.'' This is an exciting venture and we're
delighted that it now appears to be moving quickly toward final recommendation.
